A reporter and editor at The Chronicle of Higher Education since 1999, Ms. McMurtrie writes about teaching and the future of learning. Most recently, she has written about Gen Z students, from their struggles with reading to why they increasingly view college as transactional. Ms. Murtrie earned a bachelor’s degree from Wellesley College and a master’s degree from Columbia University’s journalism school.
